MuseScore knows to only display names on the staff when there are multiple instruments, by default. I've written let say 6-7 bars, after transposing down ( fro F to C) some notes turned his colour from black to red. Note Input tab of Preferences window in MuseScore 3.3.4. In the bottom section of the Note-Input tab of the preferences window, there is a section called 'MIDI Remote Control' click the checkbox next to the section heading to enable remote control. Scores for only a single instrument customarily don't bother writing the instrument name on the staff, because it's already understood from the title and/or other information at the top of the score (eg, for a single part within an ensemble, the part name appears at top left, so that's where MuseScore places it by default when generating parts). To do this, go to the menu item MuseScorePreferencesNote Input tab. or, if you originally created it for one instrument but then change your mind and wish it to be played by a different instrument - not have the performer switch instrument in the middle of the piece, but simply play a different instrument than the one you originally were going to ask him to play - then right-click the staff, Staff/Part Properties, and "Change Instrument". If the score doesn't change instrtuments that is, you aren't asking the guitar player to physically put down one guitar then pick up a different one mid-way through the piece - then the answer is, you shouldn't be using instrument change at all.
